Streamline your workload with property management accounting software and have more time to succeed online.Blogging. You know what it is, this is a blog. It is essentially content (written, video, visual, audio) on the internet. Web logging = blog. What has this got to do with your property management business? Does looking after property really require ‘content’? Isn’t providing a service enough in 2015? Nope…
We live in the internet age where the web is literally on our finger tips (smart phones/tablets/etc). Whatever industry you are in, whether you provide a service or products you need to be easily found online. If somebody, in fact, if you want to know something, what do you do? Head to the library? Dig out the encyclopaedia? Flick through the phone book? Ask a friend? I doubt, you will probably Google it. It couldn’t be easier, type your query in and within less than a second you are greeted with your answer and thousands of others.
If somebody was looking for a 2 bedroom flat in Bath and you are a letting agent in Bath with 2 bedroom flats available would they find you? If so, great! If not, say goodbye to a potential tenant as they go to your competitor.
The internet changes all of the time and its importance is ever increasing. Once upon a time all that was required was a listing of your business and the service you provide for people to find you but as it has become more competitive and harder to stand out. There are two advantages that come with having a blog.
1) Google rules the internet. Yes, there are other search engines out there, Bing, Yahoo, even Ask Jeeves still exists (I had to Google that) but Google does a great job in delivering results and providing quality user-experience so searches don’t think twice about taking their search elsewhere.
The majority of searches don’t generally look past the first page, in fact they rarely click below the top 3 listings. How do you get there? It isn’t easy, we will go into SEO another time but Google really likes ‘fresh’, ‘unique’ content and creating regular blog posts (at least 3 a week) is the best way to do this. They will reward you even further if your readers engage with that content, if they find it useful and that brings me on to the second benefit.
2) Build customer trust. Write for your readers, your community, your clients, your potential clients, not the search engines. If the reader finds that you provide informative ‘content’ that they will benefit from they will come to you. They will see that you know what you are talking about, that you can answer their questions and a business relationship can be created. Google will take note over their engagement too and bump you up the search results, if your readers like you enough to share your content, either on their social networks or on their own website/blog Google will see you as an influencer, a trust worthy source and put you ahead of your competitors.
Blogging doesn’t have to be challenging, write about what you know, become the expert in your area and you will be easier to find online and your business will grow because of it.
